FEEDBACK ON YOUR TEACHING OR SUBJECT BY QUESTIONNAIRE

Ordering Student Questionnaires from CLT

The CLT offers all combinations of open and closed questionnaires. To obtain student feedback on your subject, course or teaching by questionnaire:

1. Use a copy of the order form to outline your requirements.
2. Complete one signed order form for each class or group from which you would like feedback.
3. Select a questionnaire from the range A-H on the order form.
4. modify or create your own questionnaire by selecting items individually from the itembank in Appendix 3 (by inserting the item number in the spaces provided on the order form). Please use itembank numbers from this book only.
5. Send your order form(s) to the Centre for Learning and Teaching, City Campus.

CLT will generate individualised questionnaires for each class and send you the number of copies you request for your students.

Included with the questionnaires is a guide to how the questionnaires might be distributed and collected.

• Please allow at least one week for your order to be processed and your questionnaires mailed to you.
• If you have any enquiries, please phone CLT on (9514) 2220.

The student feedback results will be returned to you in two forms:

• a computer-generated summary of the responses on the front of the questionnaire, and
• the questionnaires containing the comments on the back. This will assist you to interpret the summary data.

Both forms of results will be returned after the assessment period for your subject.

It is important to remember that students can comment validly only on some aspects of teaching. Students' feedback is valuable input into any review, but your own reflection on what you want students to learn and how you are helping them to learn, and your peers' candid comments are even more important.

EVALUATING TEACHING AND SUBJECTS USING OTHER METHODS AND SOURCES

The CLT strongly encourages staff to conduct evaluations using methods such as:

• group discussions with students,
• interviews with students,
• comments from colleagues on course documentation and teaching performance
• written reflection (self evaluation) on processes and outcomes
